This was quite a depressing read. Mark's life was hard from when he was born and he never know love, so never learned how to be even nice.
The story starts off part history, part present so we learn where Mark's character develops. This is an ugly story. Mark is once of the nastiest people I've ever read. I wouldn't say that reading the first part of the book was enjoyable, but I needed to read on.
The second part is where the story ramps up and gets tense. I think I enjoyed this bit more.
Another enjoyable story from Roger Knowles :)

This was not quite what I expected when I voted it and it won the kuforum bookclub choice of the month in October. I can't remember what I expected, but this wasn't it :D
It's quite a surreal police procedural. I liked the police characters and I liked that we got to know a bit about the about-to-be-victims. Smelly Harry was certainly a strange character. I did wonder how involved he was in it all.
This book is written in quite a course way in parts and so might not be for everyone. It is certainly an 18 rating.
I've read other books by Roger Knowles and they are all really different and enjoyable. I did like this one.

This is billed as "a love story... but with a difference". As a love story (difference or otherwise) it was a very compelling read. I read it non stop this morning.
It's written from three people's point a view, Martin, Lisa and Martin's mum. You knew where the story was going right from the beginning, but I wanted to be part of the journey. My heart felt for Martin and Lisa, but understood that times were different 40-odd years ago. No mobile phones or internet. Just the postman and home phones. I so wanted to bang their heads together and tell them "just talk to him/her". It wasn't mawkish, just a story of what could have been.
I really enjoyed this and did have to have a good nose blow at the end (tmi :D )
